An Elementor Pro popup is a template you design under Templates › Popups, then control with three settings when you publish: conditions (which pages it can appear on), triggers (what makes it open, such as page load, scrolling, a click or exit intent) and advanced rules (limits such as showing it only once, only to new visitors or only on mobile). A popup that shows too often hurts more than it helps, so start strict.
Conditions, triggers and rules
- Conditions decide where the popup is allowed: the entire site, one page, all products, a category.
- Triggers decide the moment: on page load after a delay, on scroll to a percentage, on scroll to an element, on click, after inactivity, or on exit intent on desktop.
- Advanced rules narrow it further: after a number of page views or sessions, up to a number of times, when arriving from a search engine or a particular link, hide for logged-in users, devices and browsers.
Open an Elementor popup on button click
Set the trigger to none, then edit any button or link, click the dynamic tags icon in its link field, choose Actions › Popup, pick "Open Popup" and select your popup. This is the cleanest way to show a size guide, a booking form or a menu on request without interrupting anyone.
Popups that work for small businesses in Pakistan
- A "Today's deal" popup on the menu page, set to show once per visitor. See restaurants.
- An admissions-open notice on a school home page during admission season only. See schools.
- A discount code for first orders on a WooCommerce store, shown after scrolling half the page.
- An exit-intent lead form on an ad landing page. See landing pages.
Keep it polite
Do not open a popup as soon as a page loads on mobile; it covers the content people came for and annoys visitors. Give every popup a visible close button, limit how often it shows, and test it on a phone before publishing.
