Dynamic tags let an Elementor Pro widget take its content from your data instead of typed text: the post title, the author, a date, a site setting, or a custom field created with a plugin such as Advanced Custom Fields. You click the database icon next to a widget field, pick the tag, and the widget fills itself on every page that uses the template.
Where dynamic tags help
Any time the same layout shows different data: a property page that shows price, size and location; a doctor profile with timings; a course page with fee and duration. You design one template in the Theme Builder and the tags fill in each record.
Set up custom fields first
- Install a field plugin such as Advanced Custom Fields.
- Create a field group, for example Price (number), Size in marla (number), Location (text), and assign it to the post type.
- Fill the fields on a few posts.
- In your Elementor template, click the dynamic icon on a Heading or Text widget and choose the field under the plugin's section.
Useful settings on each tag
- Before and after text, such as "₨" before a price or "marla" after a size.
- Fallback text when a field is empty, such as "Price on request".
- Links: many link fields accept dynamic tags too, such as a phone field becoming a tel: link.
If the field does not appear
Check that the field group is assigned to the right post type, that the template preview is set to a post that actually has values (in the template's preview settings), and that the field type is supported for that widget. Image fields work in image widgets, text fields in text widgets.
